Featured Cruise Line: Azamara Cruises
|
Azamara Cruises was introduced to the US market in 2007 by Royal Caribbean International & Celebrity Cruises as a separate "Deluxe" brand of cruising. The Azamara brand is different from Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise sister companies in many ways. This "Deluxe" niche designation puts the cruise experience above the "Premium" niche where Celebrity is and puts this brand in competition with Oceania and Crystal. The Azamara Cruise experience is focused upon the destination, rather than the vessel, and clients find that the brand offers a shipboard experience where attentive personal service is offered in a country club casual atmosphere. The Azamara fleet consists of 2 very popular former Renaissance Cruise Line Vessels. These modern mid-size ships host 698 guests, offer a wide variety of dining options and have been radically refurbished to have their own distinct upscale look. Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest cruise in Europe, South America and the Caribbean. Azamara voyages tend to be longer in length and the itineraries often include overnight stays in popular ports of call. more

Featured Destination: Alaska

If you arrive in Anchorage at what should be nighttime, the first thing you'll notice is the daylight. Whether it's 11 p.m., or 3 a.m., it will appear to be an overcast late afternoon. In May, there are 20 hours of sunlight per day. By June, it's daylight virtually 24/7: You'll have to pull the shades to get some shut-eye. That means you can make a 1 a.m. visit to Ship Creek, just a salmon leap for the city's bustling downtown area, when the fish are running and see a hundred fisherman lining the banks, slogging into the umber waters with hip waders on, flicking their lures into the stream in hopes of landing a 25-pound king salmon. The perpetual daylight is your first clue that Anchorage has many unique experiences in store. The first-time visitor will find Anchorage's moderate climate a welcome surprise. Warmed by the Japanese currents of the Pacific Ocean, Anchorage enjoys average summer time highs in the mid-60s, so don't bother packing the down parka and mittens in the summer. Anchorage is a modern city home to over 250,000 Alaskans more than two-fifths of the state's residents. more
